Copyright

Copyright
An Mp3 file has been available for about 7 years now, and is being abused. Copyright which is the topic of the situation is the main purpose of this article. Copyright is a form of protection given to authors or creators of their original work. Downloading music for your personal use is okay, however if you make separate mp3 files, or burn cds and distribute them to your peers that is illegal. Even if you sell it to your friends and it is still illegal, and is not permitable, because you are breaking the copyright law. The creator, of that song has to get credit. Some artists allow their songs to be downloaded from their websites, often as a short preview or a low quality sampling. Others have embedded services in their sites that allow purchases of their singles or albums, as demonstrated by Metallica's official website. Even if there is no copyright symbol, it still may be copyrighted because it was the person’s original work. So be careful, and always think the situation through about giving someone a free cd download, from your music. It is illegal for anyone to do any of copyrighting listed such as copyrighting Music, Movies, etc. with a work created by someone else without their permission. Copyrighting applies to anything that establishes someone else’s work without their consent, or buying the rights to that work. Copyright infringement is when someone exploits any of the exclusive rights of copyright without the copyright owner’s permission. If you are charged with this you may have to pay penalties, or even go to jail. Also, the infringer must stop using that work, and if they don’t then they’re in the same situation all over again. Fair use is when you are allowed to use a work for example if you use it for educational purposes, and criticism, or parody. Torrent file sharing is another common method of peer-to-peer transfers. There is much controversy relating to file sharing due to copyright restrictions that apply to recorded media. The U.S. Code protects copyright owners from the unauthorized reproduction, adaptation or distribution of sound recordings, as well as certain digital performances to the public. For an alternative to a website such as limewire use iTunes, as it is a safe legal website. Overall, copyright is a big topic, nowadays, and it is a big situation to deal with, so follow the law.
